Experience
Dr. Bantz completed a predoctoral internship at The Center in San Diego where she provided individual and couples therapy as well as substance abuse and recovery counseling within the LGBT community. While at The Center, Dr. Bantz co-facilitated a group for the LIFE program (Learning Immune Function Enhancement) for HIV positive patients, facilitated the Phase II process group for the LIFE program, conducted intakes and assessments, and managed incoming crisis calls. She completed a second predoctoral internship at Jewish Family Service of San Diego where she gained experience running support groups for individuals going through separation and divorce and for care-givers of the chronically and terminally ill. Her postdoctoral internship was completed at Sharper Future in Palm Desert where she conducted risk assessments, facilitated mandated therapy groups, and completed psychological evaluations of high risk sexual offenders on parole, federal probation, and developmentally disabled sex offenders. In addition to her supervised internships and postdoctoral training, Dr. Bantz has had experience as a rehabilitation therapist performing case management services for the chronic mentally ill in a locked county facility, as a residential counselor in community "crisis house" settings, and as a consulting psychologist for area nursing facilities assisting patients in long-term care and conducting assessments for the behavioral medicine program.
